We are seeking a Technical Manager for our NASA NACS High Performance Computing contract.

Summary : You will be an active member of the ASRC Federal team, interacting with the Program Manager, Site Lead, Customer, and site staff. You will lead the CCDS group (Cloud Computing and Data Sciences) at the NASA Center for Climate Simulation, supporting the development, monitoring and operational maintenance of the cloud computing, data sciences and HPC support/infrastructure teams. You will answer customer inquiries and attend regularly scheduled customer meetings to keep the customer informed of activities and progress.

ASRC Federal InuTeq is seeking a Technical Manager to join our team supporting an enterprise-grade cloud computing environment where we maintain over 300 hypervisors and multiple file systems totaling nearly 8 petabytes of raw storage. This environment is an integral part in supporting the NASA Center for Climate Simulation (NCCS) mission. ASRC Federal InuTeq provides High Performance Computing (HPC) services throughout the HPC lifecycle for computational requirements, architecture, acquisition, and operations in support of our federal government customers. Specific job duties for this position include the following:

  • Management and oversight of a geographically dispersed technical workforce.

  • Oversee technical personnel to ensure that all team members are actively engaged in operational activities and moving forward Projects and High Visibility Tasks (HVTs) in accordance and concert with the customer’s priorities.

  • Interact with the customer to understand needs, distill requirements, scope, and establish clear deliverables for new Project and HVTs.

  • Communicate recommended technical solutions, architectures, and best practices to the customer using standard modeling, diagramming and presentations.

  • Identify and facilitate automation of repetitive tasks to enhance the productivity and efficiencies of the team and its members.

  • Oversee maintenance activities and upgrades for all systems ensuring proper installation, maintenance and compliance.

  • Manage regular communication/status meetings with the Management team, Customer, Stakeholders, and the technical team.

  • Recruit, onboard, train and develop employees to fulfill posted positions to create a high functioning, exceptional organization.

  • Participate in the research and evaluation of hardware/software technology options, weighing the costs/benefits/risks when making large purchases on behalf of the company.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, or other technical discipline, plus five (5) years of relevant work experience or a Master's degree and three (3) years of experience.

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of technical project management, backed by technical experience. Familiarity with systems administration will help the candidate in facilitating communication between customer and technical staff.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work, delegate and multitask.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for interacting with customers, staff, and management.

  • Strong computer science background with the ability to quantify, analyze, and communicate complex system issues.

  • Familiarity with system configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet, Ansible) and revision control software (e.g., Git).

  • Familiarity with CI/CD and GitOps workflows. The ability to lead projects related to this area a plus.

  • User level experience with Jira and Confluence.

  • Familiarity with on-premises cloud technologies. Familiarity with OpenStack is a plus.

  • Proven problem-solving skills, including the ability to ask analytical questions.

  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance is required.
