ASRC Federal Professional Services is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to support ongoing activities on our program in Avon Park, FL.

Summary:

Primarily responsible for operating heavy equipment to maintain the shell-capped roads of the Avon Park Air Force Range.

The base rate for the position is $23.07. Benefits include health & welfare, medical and 401k programs, and paid time off including government holidays.

Base work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate heavy equipment to include but not limited to excavators, heavy loaders, bulldozers, rollers, tractor-trailers, dump trucks, lift trucks, and farm and large industrial tractors.

• Perform routine equipment maintenance

• Identify and communicate any mechanical/functional issues for required repairs of the equipment being operated

• Grade existing roads to include spreading and mixing-in new shell and stabilization materials such that road is crowned for water drainage and surface smooth for vehicular travel.

• Scarify, level, and create V-ditches with grader.

• Clear, grub, strip, excavate, backfill, and disk soil/land.

• Haul, load, spread, and pile of bulk road and construction materials.

• Mow semi-improved road shoulders and grounds

• Clear ditches and storm water detention areas.

• Transport heavy construction equipment and other oversized loads with tractor-trailer.

• Construct berms including finished side slopes.

• Lift, transport, and stack steel shipping containers and concrete blocks for target construction.

• Complete inspections and reports on mobile and stationary equipment and maintain individual equipment readiness.

• Perform tasks required to support disaster preparedness or recovery operations.

Requirements :

REQUIRED:

• Minimum five years of specifically related work experience and ten years or greater strongly desired.

• Meet and maintain required government security requirements.

• Have high school diploma or general education degree (GED) equivalent.

• Adept in operation of a grader, dozer, loader and excavator (trackhoe).

• Possess and maintain a valid FL driver’s license.

• Possess excellent written and verbal communications skills to include ability to complete equipment inspection, training, and other company forms to the fullest extent possible.

• Able to self-identify and self-perform work.

• Be committed to providing for and maintaining a safe working environment.

• Able to perform repetitive physical tasks involving lifting at least 50 lbs.

Desired Qualifications:

• Secondary skillset in one or more of the following: vehicle/equipment maintenance and repair, fabrication, welding, and/or general facility maintenance.
