ASRC Federal Holding Company Records Management Specialist III in Boston, Massachusetts

Position : Records Management Specialist III

Location : Boston, MA

ASRC Federal Mission Services, a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is seeking a Records Management Specialist III to support our on-going programs at the EPA in Boston. MA.

ASRC Federal Mission Services holds a nationwide contract for library and records management services with the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency. ASRC librarians, records managers and support staff collect, organize and maintain library and records materials; assist EPA and external customers with document delivery/ILL, reference and research services, etc.

Key Role:

Provide technical support for records management programs, dockets, records centers, or other information service under the supervision of a Records Information Manager. Assist in planning and program development, analysis of records management problems, and design of strategies to meet ongoing records management needs. Specific technical duties may vary according to the needs of the work site and include, but are not limited to, responding to inquiries, record duplication and distribution, records circulation, intake, coding and barcoding of records, collection maintenance and retrieval tasks, records retirement and transfer, participation in records clean-up days, basic file plan training, warehouse upkeep and records transport, records disposal, equipment maintenance, and use of automated information systems for search and retrieval, data entry, and overdue reporting. Request records from off-site storage, create indexes for litigation efforts, bate stamp documents, manage a legal war room, and supply litigation support such as document copying and delivery.

Occasional travel to conferences, meetings, off-site contractor facilities, and site repositories is required.

Physical demands include: full range of arm movement, e.g., lifting above the head, ability to do data entry for long periods of time, ability to sit for long periods of time, usage of step or regular ladders to reach higher shelves, ability to lift at least 40 pounds in weight on a near daily basis, pushing or pulling 160 pounds on a cart, and the abilities to bend, stoop, and kneel. Primarily works in a reference desk and public reading room environment; office appropriate attire required. Some work time may be in a filing room/stacks environment or a warehouse environment. This may include exposure to varying levels of dust or other allergens.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • At least three years of records management experience.

  • Experience with at least one automated information system is required.

  • Experience with MS Office

  • Familiarity with modern Project Management methodologies a plus.

Additional Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident status in order to pass a government sponsored background investigation.
