ASRC Federal Holding Company Plumber in Fort Greely, Alaska

ASRC Federal Cyber is currently seeking a qualified plumber / backflow technician.

Responsibilities:

  1. Carry out regular maintenance of plumbing systems and assorted duties necessary to maintain, repair, or upgrade all facilities and structures.

  2. Perform inspections, repairs, installations, modify and maintain plumbing fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems in accordance with specifications and plumbing codes.

  3. Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings and pipes composed of metals such as iron, steel, copper, lead and nonmetals such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic using power and hand tools.

  4. Install and repair plumbing fixtures such as but not limited to sinks, toilets, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and faucets. Repairs or replace burst pipes and open clogged drains.

  5. Cut and thread pipe, using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and threading machines. Bend pipe to required angle by hand or using a bending machine.

  6. Locate and repair leaks on backflows and adjacent water lines; Repair, clean, rebuild backflow devices. Install copper, steel, plastic water lines to accommodate backflow devices; Problem Solving; Test, certify and fill out paperwork for backflow devices.

  7. Perform related work as assigned.

  8. Maintain proper PPE and other safety equipment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to balance, bend, kneel, squat, reach, sit, stand, walk, climb, push, pull, lift, grasp, hear and see.

  • May be subjected to moving mechanical parts, loud noise, high places, hazardous chemicals or materials, repetitive motions, and working outdoors in inclement weather.

Skills:

  • Ability to operate and maintain plumbing tools and equipment.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Good communication skills

  • Strong sense of urgency, problem solver and tasks initiative.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in scope or direction and be flexible in adopting changes quickly.

  • Ability to organize truck and job site.

  • Advanced knowledge of water systems and how they are installed.

  • General code knowledge.

Note: This position requires a combination of technical expertise, safety consciousness, teamwork, adaptability, and communication skills to the role, contributing to the effective and efficient operation of mission.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Valid US driver’s license

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

  • Current certification in CPR/First Aid or ability to acquire within first 6 months of employment.

  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office products.

  • Proficiency in speaking and writing in the English language.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills for courteous, professional, and effective communication with customers and colleagues.

  • Ability to read, research, and understand schematics for troubleshooting and repair.

  • Journeyman plumber with five (5) years’ experience in commercial plumbing systems.

  • Current Alaska Certification of Fitness or the ability to obtain from a reciprocal state.

  • Backflow Prevention Certification or the ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of hire.

  • Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience with Fire Pumps and Sprinkler Systems
