ASRC Federal Holding Company Systems Engineer in Huntsville, Alabama

ASRC Federal Agile Decision Sciences is a premier provider of systems engineering, software engineering, system integration and project management services for real-time, mission-critical defense systems.

We are seeking highly motivated Systems Engineers to support the development and sustainment of the U.S. Missile Defense Agency Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) anti-ballistic missile system project in Huntsville, AL. This position requires on-site work to be performed in Huntsville, AL. There are no remote work options.

This engineer will work closely with the Software Factory team to ensure that various cloud infrastructure platforms are developed and operational. A strong systems administration background is a plus. Job duties include: Working with a team of DevSecOps Engineers to develop and maintain a software cloud virtualization stack with Microsoft Azure Attending daily agile scrum meetings Working independently on software stories that include application development, software development, vendor calls with Microsoft, and maintaining a PaaS (Platform as a Service) Reporting to the GNI execution lead on the status of JIRA stories, any outstanding blockers, concerns, or dependencies Reporting metrics to the GNI SWF team Reporting metrics to GWS and GNI leadership Working in both classified and unclassified software environments Willingness to travel to customer site weekly Willingness to travel to other classified labs to perform work

Requirements :

  • An active Secret clearance is required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 4 years of related experience, a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience , or 5-7 years of related experience in lieu of a degree

  • Agile/SCRUM knowledge

  • Atlassian tool set experience

  • Must have a DOD 8570 IAT Level II certification (ex: Security + CE)

  • Experience and skills in agile software principles, particularly with regard to building a plan or roadmap for multiyear program / product

  • Utilize Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services

  • Experience with or basic knowledge of software development (i.e., Java/JavaScript, C++, C#, or any modern object-oriented language) and its life cycles

  • Interest and aptitude in developing Infrastructure as code scripts in Terraform and Helm to provision cloud resources

  • Deploying and maintaining applications on Kubernetes clusters

  • Configuring and maintaining DevSecOps Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline tools

  • Communicates effectively, both internally and externally to team

  • Eager to expand knowledge and continually improve

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong systems administrator experience

  • Experience working with Micrsoft Azure platform in the government space

  • Experience with Application development

  • Experience with troubleshooting software containers and virtualization

  • Experience in networking with Cisco technologies

  • Experience in Information Security

  • Experience working with the DoD customer or in a classified software environment
