Position : Junior Technical Writer
Location : North Charleston, SC
The Technical Writer will be part of an agile sustainment and systems integration support team that supports defense health interoperability products and DoD's mission to deploy an industry leading electronic health record (EHR) system.
Organizes material and completes writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
Maintains records and files of work and revisions.
Edits, standardizes, or makes changes to material prepared by other writers or establishment personnel or team members.
Confers with customer representatives, vendors, executives, end-customers, IT organization employees or publishers to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication.
Reviews published materials and recommends and makes revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding.
Selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material.
Studies drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail.
Interview production and engineering personnel and read journals and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods.
Observes production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedure and detail.
Arranges for typing, duplication, and distribution of material.
Assist in laying out material for publication.

Must have an Associates or Bachelor's Degree in English, Communications or related fields.
Must have 1 to 3 years of technical writing and analysis experience.
Must be self-managed and a problem solver.
Must have excellent communication skills to create, update, and do QA on document-based deliverables.
Must have 1-3 years of professional experience analyzing business needs, performing technical, functional, and user document updates and helping with technical writing activities.
Must have understanding of technical documentation and how the technical documentation is to be laid out.
Must be a U.S. citizen and/or authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer
